IL HB5822

Creates the Correctional Facility Nominating Committee to nominate candidates for chief administrative officer positions at correctional institutions, composed of the current/former facility head and six facility employees elected by secret ballot representing various staff levels.

Committee selects 3 nominees for the Director of Corrections to appoint as chief administrative officer, with preference given to current facility employees unless insufficient qualified candidates exist.

Requires the Department of Corrections to publish annually descriptions of qualifications and duties for all positions responsible for inmate custody and care, including all supervisory positions up to and including chief administrative officers.

Amends the Code of Corrections to incorporate the new nominating committee process into the appointment procedures for facility leadership under Section 3-6-2.
