IL HB5914

Prohibits Illinois public universities from paying external hiring search firm fees, except when hiring a university president or when the president and board of trustees demonstrate justifiable need for specialized expertise.

Applies to the University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois University, Northern Illinois University, and Western Illinois University.

Requires each university to implement a policy with qualifying criteria within 6 months of the act's effective date.
