HB6121 Summary - Illinois Department of Transportation FY2013 Budget

• Appropriates $2,722,069,301 in total funding for the Illinois Department of Transportation for fiscal year beginning July 1, 2012, including General Funds ($19,424,700), Other State Funds ($2,697,342,476), and Federal Funds ($5,302,125).

• Funds ordinary and contingent expenses across IDOT divisions including Central Administration, Division of Highways, Information Processing, Division of Traffic Safety, Aeronautics, and Public/Intermodal Transportation.

• Allocates significant funding for highway safety programs, traffic safety initiatives, public transportation grants to Regional Transportation Authority and downstate transit districts, and motor fuel tax distribution to counties and municipalities.

• Reappropriates approximately $350.7 million in unexpended balances from previous fiscal years for continued projects including metropolitan planning, ITS programs, highway improvements, and traffic safety projects.

• Takes effect July 1, 2012, with certain expenditures requiring prior written approval from the Governor.
