Allows township organizations coterminous with a municipality to be discontinued and abolished through referendum, initiated by township board ordinance/resolution or by petition from at least 10% of registered voters.

Upon majority voter approval, all township rights, powers, duties, assets, property, liabilities, obligations, and responsibilities transfer to the city council or board of trustees of the coterminous municipality effective December 31 of the year when current township officers' terms expire.

Current township officers continue in office until their terms expire; the municipality then assumes all duties and may delegate responsibilities to elected/appointed officials, employees, or enter intergovernmental agreements with county or state entities.

Municipality assumes taxation authority, depositary of township records in city clerk's office, and duties of township assessor, board of health, public aid administrator, and highway commissioner under applicable state codes.

Proposition cannot be resubmitted for 4 years after initial submission; takes effect immediately upon enactment.
