IL HB6219

Amends the Property Tax Code by adding Section 18-184.15 to establish a five-year property tax levy freeze for taxable years 2012 through 2016.

Requires county clerks to reduce property taxes levied by each taxing district to a level not exceeding that district's levy from the previous taxable year.

Allows county clerks to adjust individual taxpayer bills based solely on changes in the equalized assessed value of the taxpayer's property, even during the levy freeze period.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
