IL HB6230

Amends Section 17-2 of the Criminal Code of 1961 regarding false personation offenses.

Creates new paragraph (f)(3.2) making false representation as an elected official a Class 4 felony (increased from Class A misdemeanor).

Establishes paragraph (f)(3.1) maintaining Class A misdemeanor penalty for false representation as a public officer or public employee (except when the officer is an elected official).

Applies to knowingly and falsely representing oneself to be any public officer, public employee, or official or employee of the federal government.
