IL HB6255

Amends the Public Utilities Act by adding Section 9-220.3 concerning synthetic natural gas purchases.

Prohibits public utilities, electric generation facilities, alternative retail electric suppliers, and alternative retail gas suppliers from being required to purchase synthetic natural gas or electricity derived from synthetic natural gas.

Eliminates mandatory purchase obligations for entities that previously made elections to purchase substitute natural gas under specified provisions of Section 9-220.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
