Designate the Illinois segment of U.S. Route 62 (running through the southern tip of the state) as the "National Veterans Highway"

U.S. Route 62 is the only east-west U.S. route connecting Mexico and Canada, running from El Paso, Texas to Niagara Falls, New York

Request the Illinois Department of Transportation to erect signs displaying the "National Veterans Highway" designation consistent with state and federal regulations

Encourage the 9 other states along U.S. Route 62 to adopt similar designations to show support for veterans groups and current service members

Direct copies of the resolution to be sent to the Illinois Department of Transportation and major veterans organizations including the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Vietnam Veterans of America
