Recognizes growing consumer demand for locally and regionally-produced farm and food products and farmer interest in meeting that demand

Identifies local and regional food economies as vital sources of employment and as tools to address health issues including hunger, obesity, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes

Notes that federal farm bill policies and funding will affect Illinois communities' ability to develop sustainable food systems that advance environmental sustainability, economic development, public health, and social justice

Directs copies of the resolution be delivered to members of the Illinois congressional delegation
