Green Apple is a U.S. Green Building Council initiative launching in September 2012 to promote green schools and sustainable building practices nationwide.

Center for Green Schools members contributed over 208,000 volunteer hours annually supporting green schools through education, outreach, community events, and advocacy campaigns.

Green Apple Day of Service is scheduled for September 29, 2012, bringing together green school advocates, elected officials, educators, parents, and students to take community action.

Illinois House of Representatives encourages all schools within the state to support the Green Apple initiative and implement environmentally friendly practices.

A suitable copy of the resolution will be presented to the United States Green Building Council as a symbol of esteem and respect.
