Designates May 18, 2012 as Endangered Species Day in Illinois to raise awareness about endangered species and their protection.

Notes Illinois has approximately 450 endangered species including 18 fish, 3 amphibians, 8 reptiles, 26 birds, 5 mammals, 37 invertebrates, and 251 plants.

Highlights the alligator snapping turtle, listed as endangered in 2006, as an important species for controlling fish populations and maintaining Illinois' ecosystem.

Pledges the Illinois House of Representatives to uphold the Endangered Species Act and protect plants, wildlife, and their habitats in honor of Operation Endangered Species and the Alligator Snapping Turtle project at Pontiac Township High School.

Emphasizes that species extinction threatens medical advancement and future generations, and that Illinois Constitution mandates providing a healthful environment.
