Condemns the August 5, 2012 shooting at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin in Oak Creek and recognizes the Sikh community's contributions to military service, public service, and economic prosperity in the United States.

Addresses increased rhetorical attacks, harassment, intimidation, bullying, and violence against Sikh, Muslim, South Asian American, and Arab American communities following the 2012 Wisconsin shooting, a mosque fire in Joplin, Missouri, and the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Encourages tolerance and prevention of future violence through education about diverse cultures and religions to strengthen communities and the nation.

Expresses gratitude to first responders, congregants, and Wisconsin community members who helped save lives and prevent greater loss during the temple shooting.

Denounces hate-fueled violence and bigotry in public and political discourse while encouraging civic engagement and participation among all Illinois residents, including immigrants and minorities.
