Illinois House of Representatives congratulates the Dorolyn Academy of Music and Dr. Dorothy L. Bounds on the 30th anniversary of the academy's founding on September 24, 1982.

Academy will celebrate its anniversary on October 20, 2012 at the Center for the Performing Arts at Dorolyn in Oak Park, hosted by Dr. Quincy L. Johnson.

Academy provides music and performance instruction in voice, piano, organ, percussion, woodwind and brass instruments, guitar, dance, and theater to communities in Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park, and the Chicago area.

Academy is recipient of the State of Illinois Treasurer's Award, Oak Park Development Corporation Nicholas Award, and Oak Park Area Arts Council Best of the Class Award for Community Outreach.

Dr. Dorothy L. Bounds, the academy's founder and leader, has over 50 years of performing arts experience and has received numerous awards including Entrepreneur of the Year for Illinois and Northwest Indiana and The Jefferson Award from NBC Channel 5.
