Illinois House of Representatives honors W. "Bill" Williams, Jr. for his work with the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau and lifetime achievements in the hospitality industry.

Williams serves as Vice President for Diversity/Sales at the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau with over 30 years of service and 40+ years in hospitality, specializing in the SMERF market (Social, Military, Education/Ethnic, Religious, and Fraternal).

Founding board member of the National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners and Chicago Chapter of the Society of Government Meeting Professionals; recognized as the senior African American in the U.S. convention bureau industry.

Founded the Morgan Park Shoe Repair and Shine Parlor (now K & J Shoe Repair and Shine Parlors) over two decades ago, providing part-time employment for more than 30 people.

Holds business degree from Chicago State University; married 47 years with three children; active member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Montford Point Marines, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, 33rd degree Mason, and Shriner.
