Honors the life and passing of Ralph DeWitt, former Chicago police officer, Homewood Trustee, and Cook County State's Attorney investigator, who died on October 27, 2012.

DeWitt was born July 1, 1949, served in the U.S. Army's First Cavalry Division during the Vietnam War (1969-1970) and earned a Purple Heart.

Worked for the Chicago Police Department starting in 1971, rising to the rank of lieutenant, then joined the Cook County State's Attorney's office as an investigator in 1991.

Moved to Homewood in 1998 and served as the village's first Black Trustee, elected in 2001 and re-elected in 2005, while also serving on multiple community boards; retired from the State's Attorney's office in December 2011 to serve as village manager until March 2012.

Directs the Illinois House of Representatives to extend sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to present a copy of this resolution to his family.
