Recognizes Yarbrough's business background as a third-generation entrepreneur and founder/CEO of Hathaway Insurance, and her educational achievements including degrees from Chicago State University, Northeastern Illinois University, and Harvard's Kennedy School of Government

Acknowledges her legislative achievements including leading efforts to make Illinois the first Midwestern state to ban indoor smoking, working to repeal capital punishment and make Illinois the 16th state to abolish it (earning a Nobel Peace Prize nomination), and helping create the Commission on the Elimination of Poverty

Credits Yarbrough with early support for the CeaseFire anti-violence initiative, fighting predatory mortgage lending practices, supporting major infrastructure investment, and enacting ethics reform
