Notes that the Smokefree Illinois Act has prevented an estimated 35,000 heart disease hospitalizations and resulted in $1.8 billion in hospital cost savings according to Illinois Department of Health data

Affirms that smokefree policies are the only effective protection against secondhand smoke and provide immediate health benefits including reduced heart attack hospitalizations

Directs presentation of a suitable copy of the resolution to the American Lung Association and American Cancer Society
