Recognizes and honors the 106th anniversary of the founding of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-Americans, founded on December 4, 1906, at Cornell University by seven founders known as the Seven Jewels.

Acknowledges the fraternity's aims of manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind, and its mission to develop leaders, promote brotherhood and academic excellence, and provide service to communities.

Notes the fraternity has 364 college campus chapters and 337 alumni chapters globally, with 138 chapters in the Midwest region including 30 in Illinois, and has developed the character and education of over 200,000 men in 106 years.

Proclaims December 4, 2012, as Alpha Phi Alpha Day in Illinois and commends all fraternity brothers, past and present, for their friendship, ideals, and community service.

Directs that copies of the resolution be delivered to regional and state leaders of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and to the presidents of all 30 college and alumni chapters in Illinois.
