Northern Illinois University Huskies football team won the Mid-American Conference championship on December 1, 2012, defeating Kent State 44-37 in double overtime with an 8-0 conference record and 12-1 overall season record.

Huskies became the first Mid-American Conference team to earn a berth in a BCS bowl game, earning a spot in the 2013 Orange Bowl against Florida State Seminoles on New Year's Day.

Junior quarterback Jordan Lynch led the team with 2,962 passing yards and 24 touchdown passes, while setting an NCAA rushing record for quarterbacks with 1,771 rushing yards and 19 rushing touchdowns.

House of Representatives commends the 2012 Northern Illinois University Huskies football team for their on-field performance, coaching excellence, and off-field conduct.

Copies of the resolution will be distributed to the Northern Illinois University Board of Trustees, President, Athletic Director, coaching staff, and all players on the 2012 roster.
