Honors the memory of Edna Williams, a Chicago native and accomplished vocalist and music educator who passed away on December 31, 2012

Recognizes her extensive musical training including studies at Roosevelt University where she earned bachelor's (1957) and master's (1959) degrees in music, and a John Hay Whitney Fellowship providing 15 months of study in Vienna, Austria

Acknowledges her 29-year career as Professor of Music at Northern Illinois University (1965-1994) and her performances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Chicago Chamber Orchestra, and other major ensembles

Highlights her service as an active member of professional organizations including the National Association of Negro Musicians and Chicago Music Association, where she held various leadership positions and chaired scholarship programs

Directs presentation of a copy of this resolution to the Williams family as an expression of sympathy
