Jan Lee Ray of Arthur passed away on January 1, 2013, and was born September 24, 1949, in Decatur to Willis "Dude" and Helen Jane (Piper) Ray.

Served over 40 years with the Arthur Volunteer Fire Department as a past chief, plus roles as Bourbon Township Supervisor, Arthur Chief of Police, Arthur Village Administrator, Douglas County 911 Board member, and Arthur Fire Protection District trustee.

Active in his community as a member of Vine Street Christian Church (serving as elder and moderator), Arthur Masonic Lodge, and Kaskaskia Country Club; coached multiple baseball, softball, and football teams and announced home football games.

Preceded in death by his parents, son Jason Ray, and sister Jackie Lauterjung; survived by wife Alice Ray, daughter Janet Ray, three grandchildren, and brother Jerry Ray.
