Finds that generic drugs provide 30% to 80% savings compared to brand-name medicines and that multiple generics are often available at varying prices for the same brand-name product.

Requires the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to implement competitive bidding among all generic drug manufacturers to ensure Medicaid recipients receive quality generic products at competitively bid costs while maximizing savings.
