SB1825 Summary

• Creates the Regulatory Review and Economic Growth Task Force within the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity consisting of 13 members appointed by legislative leaders and the Governor, with additional public members appointed by the elected Chairperson.

• Task Force goals include drafting regulatory reform models to ease business creation, examining current laws and tax expenditures supporting entrepreneurship, and recommending changes to state tax laws for improved business climate.

• Task Force must hold at least 3 public hearings and report findings and recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly by December 31, 2011.

• Task Force members serve without compensation but may be reimbursed for expenses; meetings are subject to the Open Meetings Act with a quorum of 7 members required.

• Task Force dissolves upon submission of final report; all findings and recommendations must be posted on the Department's website.
