SB1981 Summary

• Amends the Environmental Protection Act to authorize the Environmental Protection Agency to disburse grants from the Illinois Clean Water Fund to state agencies, local governments, publicly owned entities subject to NPDES permitting requirements, and charitable organizations.

• Grants must be used for purposes of reducing water pollution and protecting surface and ground water quality and aquatic habitats.

• Authorizes the EPA to adopt rules to administer the grant program established by this provision.

• Takes effect July 1, 2011.
