IL SB2504

Amends Section 11-1011 of the Illinois Vehicle Code regarding pedestrian conduct at railroad crossings and bridges.

Allows pedestrians to cross a pedestrian walkway over railroad tracks to reach a waiting train if the train is stationary, no other trains are approaching, and the pedestrian does not cross the same track as the waiting train.

Permits pedestrian crossings when a railroad employee indicates it is safe to cross the track.

Establishes penalties of $250 for first violations and $500 for subsequent violations, with option to impose 25 hours of community service instead of the $250 fine for a first violation.

Authorizes local authorities to enforce the fines against pedestrians who violate railroad crossing signals.
