Department of Healthcare and Family Services must seek a waiver from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services within 30 days to exempt Illinois from federal Medicaid Maintenance of Effort requirements under the Affordable Care Act.

Waiver is required to allow the Department to immediately implement changes from Public Act 96-1501 regarding eligibility standards, methodology, and procedures for medical assistance programs.

Changes apply to medical assistance programs, Children's Health Insurance Program, and Covering ALL KIDS Health Insurance Act administered by the Department.

Department must submit all necessary State Plan amendments to the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services within 60 days of the Act's effective date.

Act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
