SB3543 Summary

• Creates the State and County Fair Assistance Fund as a special fund in the State treasury to be administered by the Department of Agriculture for grants up to $20,000 per county fair board to develop, expand, or support county fairs showcasing Illinois agriculture products.

• Redirects 2% of adjusted gross receipts from certain riverboat gambling operations away from Chicago State University and distributes 50% equally among the State and County Fair Assistance Fund, Partners for Conservation Fund (soil and water conservation), and State Cooperative Service Trust Fund (cooperative extensions).

• Allocates the remaining 50% of redirected riverboat revenues to horse racing: 60% to the Illinois Thoroughbred Breeders Fund and 40% to the Colt Stakes Purse Distribution Fund.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
