IL SB3544

Amends the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act to modify how the Department maintains unfounded child abuse and neglect reports in its central register.

Requires the Department to keep unfounded reports indefinitely if the subject requests in writing within 10 days of investigation that the record not be expunged because they allege an intentional false report was made.

Requires indefinite retention of unfounded reports classified as priority one or priority two, or reports made by mandatory reporters under the Act.

Requires the Department to maintain unfounded reports involving child death, sexual abuse of a child, or serious physical injury to a child for 3 years.

Requires the Department to maintain all prior unfounded reports on an individual for the duration of any pending subsequent investigation plus 12 months; all other unfounded reports must be maintained for 12 months after the final finding.
