SB3569 Summary

• Prohibits payments for unused sick or vacation time from being counted as pensionable earnings for public employees who first become participants on or after the effective date of this Act

• Prohibits unused sick or vacation time from being used to establish service credit for new participants across multiple Illinois pension systems (IMRF, Cook County, State Employees, State Universities, Downstate Teachers, and Chicago Teachers)

• Applies retroactively to employees already participating in these systems before the effective date, who may continue to receive service credit and earnings calculations based on unused sick leave under previous rules

• Effective immediately upon becoming law
