Effective January 1, 2013, electric utilities and alternative retail electric suppliers must provide customers with quarterly information on electricity sources broken down by biomass, coal, hydro, natural gas, nuclear, oil, solar, wind, and other resources.

Utilities must provide a pie-chart graphically depicting the percentages of electricity sources and a second pie-chart showing renewable energy resources as a percentage of electricity supplied to eligible retail customers.

Utilities must provide a standardized chart (format determined by the Public Utilities Commission) showing carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide emissions, and nuclear waste attributable to known electricity sources.

All required environmental disclosure information must be made available to customers either electronically (website or email) or through U.S. Postal Service, and must be presented to the Public Utilities Commission for inclusion on its website.
