IL SB3597

Allows service retirement pensioners who are re-employed on a temporary, non-annual, or hourly basis to keep their pension if they work no more than 100 days per school year.

Limits gross compensation for such re-employment to $30,000 per school year, or for retired principals with at least 5 years of service, an amount equal to the daily rate for retired principals multiplied by 100.

Requires pensioners to notify the Fund and Board of Education before accepting re-employment under these conditions, and requires Boards of Education to certify pensioner status and compensation quarterly.

Pension is cancelled if the pensioner exceeds either the 100-day work limit or the compensation limit in any school year beginning on or after the effective date.

Exempts this mandate from state reimbursement requirements under the State Mandates Act.
