IL SB3645

Amends the Local Records Act to allow public records to be destroyed either through an approved schedule/list from the Local Records Commission or through written approval for individual records.

Requires the Local Records Commission to approve lists or schedules of records that have no administrative, legal, research, or historical value before destruction or disposal.

Eliminates the need for further approval once a list or schedule is Commission-approved; records on an approved list may be destroyed without additional authorization.

Maintains Commission authority to establish regulations for compiling destruction lists, physical destruction procedures, and standards for reproducing records via microfilm or electronic format.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
