IL SB3665

Amends the Unified Code of Corrections to add factor 28 to the list of aggravating factors in sentencing: crimes of assault, aggravated assault, battery, aggravated battery, robbery, armed robbery, or aggravated robbery committed against a letter carrier or postal worker performing duties for the United States Postal Service.

This new factor authorizes courts to impose more severe sentences when the defendant knew or reasonably should have known the victim was a postal worker at the time of the offense.

Makes letter carriers and postal workers receiving mail delivery duties eligible for sentencing enhancements equivalent to protections already afforded to veterans performing duties as representatives of veterans' organizations.
