Recognizes Midwest Generation's February 29, 2012 announcement to retire two Chicago coal-fired power plants (Fisk and Crawford stations) following an agreement with Mayor Rahm Emanuel, community groups, and aldermen.

Acknowledges the Chicago Clean Power Coalition, comprising over 60 community, labor, health, faith, youth, and environmental organizations, that advocated for the retirement of these facilities as part of a transition to new energy sources.

Commends Mayor Emanuel, residents and organizations of Pilsen and Little Village, the Chicago Clean Power Coalition, and Midwest Generation for reaching an agreement that aligns with the proposed Chicago Clean Power Ordinance and clean air goals for the city and state.

Supports ongoing efforts to identify clean, new uses for the retired facilities that will improve quality of life in the affected communities.

Urges the Governor and State of Illinois agencies to support the retirement of these facilities and their transition to uses that benefit the surrounding communities, while acknowledging the contributions of thousands of workers who operated these plants since the early 1900s.
