Recognizes Mayor Rahm Emanuel, community residents of Pilsen and Little Village, the Chicago Clean Power Coalition, and Midwest Generation for reaching an agreement to retire coal-fired power plants at the Fisk and Crawford stations in Chicago.

Acknowledges the retirement agreement aligns with the goals of the proposed Chicago Clean Power Ordinance and will help Chicago and Illinois achieve clean air objectives.

Honors the thousands of workers who have operated these facilities since the early 1900s in producing electricity essential to Chicago's development.

Supports ongoing efforts to identify clean, new uses for the retired facilities that will improve quality of life in the surrounding communities.

Urges the Governor and State of Illinois agencies to support the facility retirement and transition these sites into beneficial community uses.
