Illinois has 36 Community Action Agencies serving all 102 counties, employing over 5,000 full-time staff and utilizing more than 18,000 volunteers contributing 1.3 million service hours.

Community Services Block Grant has been the foundation funding for Community Action Agencies since 1981, and for every grant dollar invested, Illinois Community Action Network leveraged $5.36 from state, local, and private sources.

In 2009, the Community Services Block Grant helped nearly 800,000 Illinoisans move toward economic security; in 2010, it created and retained 2,235 jobs through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The Community Services Block Grant provides assistance for food, housing, job training, medical assistance, and emergency services to Illinoisans in need.

Senate opposes any action by Congress or the President to reduce Community Services Block Grant funding and directs that copies of this resolution be sent to federal legislative and executive leadership.
