Illinois General Assembly urges United States Congress to fully fund Amtrak and the high speed rail program.

Requests Congress eliminate any provision that would reduce federal investment in state-supported Amtrak routes, including the Lincoln Service, Illini, Saluki, Carl Sandburg, and Hiawatha.

Opposes House budget bill provisions that would preclude federal dollars for state-supported Amtrak routes, which would eliminate most Amtrak service in Illinois and strand approximately 2 million annual passengers.

Recognizes Illinois' 30+ year partnership with Amtrak and 2006 commitment to double state funding, resulting in doubled ridership and real estate development around train stations.

Directs copies of the resolution to be sent to Senators Dick Durbin and Mark Kirk and Illinois' entire congressional delegation.
