Brighton Park neighborhood is the most park-poor area in Chicago with 48,000 residents served by only Kelly Park, which has received minimal funding over 40 years.

Proposed Kelly Park renovations include an artificial turf field, new playground equipment, baseball diamonds, drainage system, sidewalks, lighting, and security cameras at an estimated cost of $2,800,000.

Chicago Park District has assigned a project manager and drafted renovation designs with support from the Brighton Park Neighborhood Council and Kelly Park PAC.

Senate urges the Chicago Park District to prioritize Kelly Park renovation in its capital plan and complete the project by 2014.

Resolution recognizes park renovation as essential to addressing street violence and providing a safe environment for the Brighton Park community.
