Khaldun "Khal" Everage of Chicago died on June 5, 2012; he was born June 12, 1970 to educators Alonza and Delma Everage.

Served as a U.S. Marine Corps member with 2 tours in Saudi Arabia during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, receiving a Conduct Award, 2 meritorious service awards, and combat awards.

Earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Chicago State University and was pursuing a Master's Degree at Northeastern University.

Worked with the Chicago Police Department's Juvenile Gang Intervention Partnership Program and Chicago Public Schools in multiple capacities including National Safe and Drug Free Schools Coordinator and Manager of Student Engagement and Community Outreach.

Received the Frederick Thrasher Gang Intervention Award and was honored as an "Everyday Hero" by the Chicago Urban League; survived by his wife Dina Linne, children Khylah Imani and Khalil Solomon, and extended family.
