George Lou Pride of North Chicago passed away on June 5, 2012, at age 68.

Born May 24, 1944, he served in the United States Army and was a singer who performed on the Chitlin Circuit throughout the South and Midwest.

Performed and toured with notable artists including B.B. King, Koko Taylor, Betty Wright, and Kool and the Gang; was recorded by Curtis Mayfield on his Curton Record Label.

Survived by sister Diane, brother Jerry Pride, daughters Robin, Monique, and Kayla, 7 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

Illinois Senate mourns his passing and directs presentation of this resolution to his family as a symbol of sympathy.
