Expresses the Illinois Senate's mourning of L. James "Jim" Struif, who died on June 26, 2012.

Honors Struif's military service as a submarine officer in the United States Navy from 1954-1958 and his career as a lawyer in general practice from 1963 to his retirement in 2011.

Recognizes Struif's community service including work as a civil rights activist in Mississippi in 1966, involvement in founding the Madison County Urban League and the Nature Institute, and leadership roles in the Boy Scouts of America and his church.

Acknowledges Struif's education, including graduation from Northwestern University in 1953 and the University of Illinois College of Law in 1959.

Directs that a copy of the resolution be presented to Struif's family, survived by his wife Shirley, four children, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
