Joan J. Kosinski of Chicago passed away on June 29, 2012, and the Illinois Senate expresses condolences to her family and loved ones.

Born in 1935 to Polish immigrant parents, she graduated from Lourdes High School and Ray-Vogue College of Design, owned a dress shop, and co-operated Aluminum Case Corp. with her husband George for over four decades.

Served as president of the Polish Museum of America for 10 of her 40 years on its board and held leadership positions in the Legion of Young Polish Women and Polish Women's Civic Club since 1976.

Received the Polish Museum of America Polish Spirit Award in 1990 and the Advocates Society Award of Merit in 2003; recognized in 2003 as one of 50 Polish Americans: Patrons of Culture and Art and named Outstanding Woman in Philanthropy in 2010.

The Illinois Senate directs that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to her family as an expression of sympathy.
