Illinois Senate mourns the death of John "Jack" William Kerr of St. Charles, who passed away on July 2, 2012.

Kerr was born February 24, 1935, earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Davidson College, and served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves for 30 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1987.

Kerr worked for Allstate Insurance Company for 32 years before retiring in 1995, with assignments in St. Petersburg, Marietta, Georgia, and St. Charles.

Kerr served as a St. Charles Park District Board commissioner since 1987 and held various leadership positions in multiple community organizations including the Norris Cultural Arts Center Board, Kane County Citizens Advisory Committee, St. Charles Kiwanis Club, and St. Charles Episcopal Church.

Kerr is survived by his wife Mary, two children, two grandsons, two sisters, and numerous relatives and friends.
