Althea Przybylo Kroger, born in Chicago to Ted and Alice Przybylo, passed away on August 30, 2012.

She earned a master's degree in political science from the University of Vermont, a law degree from Vermont Law School, and a Master of Public Administration degree from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

She served 4 terms in the Vermont House of Representatives and 2 terms in the Vermont Senate before becoming a family court judge, advocating for women's rights and social justice.

After her 1996 colon cancer diagnosis, she traveled to Poland, studied English language instruction in Krakow, and founded the Althea Institute in Debica to teach English and leadership skills to business managers and civic leaders.

The Illinois Senate expresses condolences to her surviving family: husband Joseph, son Andrew, granddaughters Gabrielle and Rachel, and numerous siblings and their children.
