Illinois Senate mourns the death of Jean Anne Bates, who passed away on October 21, 2012.

Jean Anne Bates graduated from Tolono Unity High School and St. Francis Nursing School, worked at Shell Chemical Products (later DuPont) as a senior human resources leader, and was a graduate of Texas A&M fire school who became a fire chief.

Bates was an active philanthropist who volunteered with the United Way, McLean County Compact, WYSE Competition, McLean County Extension Board, and served on the Community Cancer Center Board.

In retirement, Bates cared for her grandchildren and worked for Mecum Auto Auctions while traveling worldwide.

A suitable copy of this resolution shall be presented to the family of Jean Anne Bates as an expression of the Senate's deepest sympathy.
