John F. "Jack" Barrick of Lincoln died on September 2, 2012; he was born on March 4, 1944, and married Linda Sparks on January 13, 1968.

Served in the United States Marine Corps with the 3rd Marine Division for 12 months and 26 days in Vietnam, achieving the rank of sergeant.

Owned and operated Barrick Transfer (a trucking and beer distribution business) from 1978 until his retirement in 2004; sponsored 21 bowling teams and served as East-Lincoln Township Road Commissioner.

Active in veteran and community organizations including Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1756 (served as commander multiple times), American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce; also raced sprint cars from 1965 to 1975 and helped found the Abe Lincoln Quarter Midget Association.

Survived by his wife Linda, three children, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
