Ruth Burton Foney passed away on December 22, 2012; she was born July 3, 1924, in Mantua, Alabama to parents Mater Burton and Willie S. Burton.

Graduated from Druid City High School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and attended Stillman College; moved to Chicago in the 1940s and married Eugene Foney, Sr.

Worked at Swift and Company and later retired from Spiegel, Inc.; enjoyed cooking, walking, and visiting family and friends by bus.

Active in Methodist churches, joining Mt. Sinai Methodist Church in Alabama and later Greater Walters AME Methodist Church in Chicago where she served on the usher board.

Survived by son Eugene Foney Jr., daughter Jennifer Foney, granddaughter Ariel Dale-Foney, sister Evary Parker, and multiple sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.
