Karen Marie Hollis of Rockford died on December 10, 2012, at age 48 after serving more than 25 years with Rockford Health Systems as a flight nurse for the REACT Flight Team.

Hollis died along with fellow flight nurse Jim Dillow and pilot Andrew Olesen when their aircraft encountered bad weather while en route to pick up a critically ill patient.

Active in her community, Hollis served as board president of an independent multiple intelligences school and led a campaign to raise $850,000 to upgrade Spectrum Progressive School's facilities and expand its property.

Survived by her husband Scott, daughters Sydney Marie and Samantha Carol, mother Nancy Foley, four siblings, and multiple nieces and nephews.

Illinois Senate extends condolences to Hollis's family and directs a copy of this resolution be presented to her family.
