IL HB0017

Amends the School Code sections 10-21.11 and 34-18.13 regarding infectious disease policies and rules.

Urges school boards and the Board of Education to allow students to wash their hands with soap or detergent if they wish to do so under their infectious disease policies and rules.

Applies to all school districts and public schools in Illinois, including special charter districts, Department of Corrections school districts, laboratory schools at public universities, and alternative schools operated by regional superintendents.

Requires school boards to continue developing policies for managing children with chronic infectious diseases on an individual case-by-case basis with different provisions for different age groups and educational settings.
