County recorders must redact or remove personal information upon written request, including social security numbers, driver's license numbers, account numbers, credit card numbers, and PIN codes from internet websites displaying public records.

County recorders with existing internet websites must submit a written policy to their county board within 12 months of the amendment's effective date for redacting social security numbers; new websites must implement removal of social security numbers before public display.

No person or entity may include an individual's social security number in documents prepared for recording with a county recorder, with exceptions for state or federal tax liens, certified death certificates, and documents executed before the amendment's effective date.

County recorders must redact the name and address of peace officers from deeds or instruments upon request, though mortgage or lien holders may request access to the officer's information.

County recorders are not liable for unintentional or inadvertent violations of these privacy requirements.
